Meet our Doulas

Meredith Steiner CD(DONA) - Contact Meredith

Meredith has always been drawn to work that focuses on the strength of spirit. She supports mamas from the beginning stages of pregnancy, to the challenges and excitement of labor, to the transition of bringing baby home. Thoroughly fascinated and humbled by her first birth, she became a DONA-trained birth doula after the birth of her son in 2012. SInce then, she has worked with numerous families in birth centers, hospitals and home birth settings. She has found that her background in Massage and her BS in Social Work have laid a strong foundation for her doula work to thrive.  Meredith leaves every birth with a profound honor of being present at these life changing events with her families.

Meredith has been a certified Massage Therapist since 2005 and in 2006 was certified in Prenatal Massage. While being devoted to the healing work of massage and doula'ing, Meredith also passionately believes in the importance of having a physically healthy pregnancy and beyond! She is a Certified Personal Trainer, through NSCA, (2009) and runs bootcamps and trains individuals one on one. She provides nutritional planning for her clients as well as conducts most of her meetings and prenatal visits on the Town Lake trail! She has always found that people tend to open up just a little bit more when moving and in nature. Things that keep Meredith inspired when not doula'ing, training, or massaging are dance parties with her babies, good food and drink in Austin with her love, Anthony, and running while catching the sunrise on Town Lake.

Sarah Stasica CD(DTI)- Contact Sarah

Sarah was drawn to doula work because of her passion for the birth of a baby as well as the birth of a family. She knows that women are strong and loves to help women connect with that strength in labor and early parenting. Sarah is a mama of two little ones and wife of a really awesome, supportive husband. She loves her family, pregnant mamas (don't be surprised if she chats you up at the grocery store), babies, running, yoga and trying all the awesome restaurants/coffee shops/food trucks Austin has to offer!

Sarah is trained as a labor and postpartum doula through Doula Training International (DTI).

Testimonial from one of Sarah's labor clients:

"When we found out we were pregnant, I never thought we would have a Doula in the room with us for delivery.  But after having delivered our first baby using Sarah from Austin Doula Collective, I can't imagine having it any other way... I ended up having to get induced for medical reasons but with Sarah's help, as well as my husband, we were able to limit the medical interventions so we could still have a natural childbirth without additional drugs or interventions.  Sarah helped us get through the long (almost 24 hours) process before our beautiful baby boy joined us.  She was helpful in not only taking the lead on things from finding nurses to offering honey sticks but she also helped support my husband and give him suggestions on things to try with me to get me through the process.  Ultimately, she wanted what was best for me to be as comfortable and pain-free as possible, and felt I could trust her with anything. In the end, it felt like we gained a good friend that was there to experience that magical day with us.  She was such a great support for us and helped us get the birth we wanted, even with the induction."
